The MSME Ministry stated “this decision will help to boost the indigenous production of agarbatti and will pave way to generate rural employment”.
“This will also start the process of mitigating the gap between the indigenous production and demand and will reduce import of agarbatti in the country,” it added.
Each focused cluster of artisans might be supported with about 50 computerized agarbatti making machines and 10 mixing machines. Accordingly, a complete of 200 computerized agarbatti making machines and 40 mixing machines might be supplied to the artisans.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory organisation underneath the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), will present coaching, and help artisans working on this space, with Agarbatti manufacturing machines.
KVIC will tie up with khadi establishments and agarbatti producers within the nation, having good observe file, to supply work and uncooked materials to agarbatti making artisans.
“The programme will act as a catalyst in reviving the agarbatti manufacturing in the villages and small towns and will immediately generate a minimum of about 500 additional jobs,” the ministry stated.
It stated the programme goals to boost the manufacturing of ‘Agarbatti’ within the nation and create sustainable employment for the normal artisans, by offering them common employment and enhance of their wages.
“This will give a boost to the domestic agarbatti industry in the country and will reduce imports of agarbatti,” stated the ministry.
The Centre earlier took two main choices by inserting the agarbatti merchandise from “free” commerce to “restricted” commerce within the import coverage and enhancing the import responsibility from 10 per cent to 25 per cent on ‘spherical bamboo sticks’ used for manufacturing of agarbatti for the advantage of the home trade.
